Fashion Design Students Explore Creativity at Studio Puipia

Bangkok, October 9 – Raffles International College Fashion Design students went on a field trip to Studio Puipia in Sathorn to learn more about the creative process behind Fashion Design. Students had the opportunity to see how ideas are transformed into fashion collections, from finding inspiration and developing concepts to creating patterns, designing textiles, and producing finished garments.

Throughout the visit, students explored the designer’s creative process and learned how a design develops from an initial idea into a finished product. Miriam Varghese, Programme Director of Fashion Design, and Mike Vancoillie, Programme Director of Fashion Marketing and Management, accompanied the students and provided additional explanations about the techniques, design methods, and garment construction used in the collections.

Students were impressed by the wide variety of textiles, clothing, footwear, bags, and accessories displayed throughout the studio. They also enjoyed a private tour and the opportunity to speak directly with the designer, who generously shared his experience and answered their questions. The visit helped students understand the importance of developing original ideas and finding inspiration through observation and real-life experiences rather than getting all their inspiration from online sources.

The studio visit was a valuable hands-on learning experience that gave students a better understanding of the fashion industry and the work of a professional designer. Learning opportunities like this are an important part of education at Raffles, allowing students to connect classroom knowledge with real-world practice. Raffles continues to provide students with meaningful industry experiences that support their creative growth and help prepare them for their future careers.
