Hands-On Learning: Interior Design Students Explore Siam Shopping District

Bangkok, August 31 – Interior Design students from Raffles International College went on an on-site field trip to the Siam shopping district to observe and learn in a real district area. Led by Mr. Wynn A. Bay, programme director of Interior Design, the visit focused on retail shophouses. This was an important step that gave students the chance to see the actual site and prepare for their theoretical coursework.

During the visit, students carried out site analysis on both micro and macro scales. They studied demographics, site constraints, and visibility. With guidance from their lecturer, they discussed possible design solutions to address the challenges they observed. This hands-on experience helped them connect classroom knowledge with real conditions.

The trip also encouraged students to ask questions and exchange ideas. By engaging in active Q&A, they gained the right information needed for their project. They learned how design must respond to customer demand and how careful planning can lead to practical solutions. This experience showed them the importance of observing and adapting to real needs.
