Hands-On Studio Lighting Practice at Boxshot Studio
Bangkok, September 1 – Design students from Raffles International College joined a special learning trip to Boxshot Studio as part of their Digital Photography course. Guided by Mr. Supasit Srisawathsak, lecturer and professional photographer, the class focused on how to set up studio lighting for portrait photography.
The morning session introduced students to lighting basics. They practiced with a single light, learned how to measure exposure, and explored ways to control shadows and highlights. Using reflectors, they saw how they could shape light to create different effects. This gave them a strong foundation in understanding how light works in a studio.
In the afternoon, the class moved into advanced setups. Students experimented with multiple lights, adjusting angles, and intensity to create different moods. They discovered how lighting choices can change the feeling of a portrait, from soft and natural to bold and dramatic. Each student had the chance to try and see the results for themselves.
The day was lively and inspiring. Students explored how light can transform a portrait, practiced with professional equipment, and experienced a real studio workflow. By the end of the trip, they returned with new skills and confidence to apply in future projects.
