Interior Design Field Trip: Learning from Retail Spaces at ICONSIAM

Bangkok, July 13 – Interior Design programme students at Raffles International College joined an educational field trip to the ICONSIAM , led by Mr. Wynn A. Bay, Programme Director of Interior Design. The trip was part of the Studio Retail class and gave students a valuable opportunity to learn directly from real-world retail environments.

The purpose of the visit was to help the students understand how retail spaces are organized, the benefits of lease-out strategies, and the typical set-up of retail environments. They explored how space planning, organizational approaches, and strategic design decisions shape customer experiences. This learning opportunity encouraged students to think critically about how design connects with business goals.

During the field trip, students practiced site analysis at both micro and macro scales. They studied journey mapping, access analysis, and overall retail design strategies. By observing real spaces, students gained insights into customer demands and how retail environments adapt to industry trends.
